We initially assess trademarks by a number of methods not available to the layman, not possible for a non-professional. These may be according to whether names are, for example, available but not protectable in some jurisdictions but protectable in others, or available because the law deems them to be no longer legally securable by their owners. We later use inexpensive, short-cut, specialist methods to search for competitors with similar names to put you in the best possible picture prior to registration or further precision checks.
